Know your problem: male pattern hair loss
Know your problem. The more you know about your MPHL, the better decisions you’ll make.
Male pattern hair loss is the most common form of hair loss, representing close to 95% of all cases of those experiencing frontal baldness.
About half of all men experience male pattern hair loss by age 50. So if you have male pattern hair loss, you’re not alone.
You’re probably very familiar with this type of hair loss. Frontal baldness can begin with a receding hairline, at the crown, or both. It is typically a progressive condition and left untreated, the hair loss will likely continue.
Ok, best you sit down … by the time you notice your hair loss, 50% of it may already be gone! That’s why it’s so important to start taking the male hair loss treatment, PROPECIA, as soon as possible—to help limit or stop further hair loss and maybe even grow some back.
What causes male pattern hair loss
Scientists believe that male pattern hair loss is inherited from either side of the family and that a chemical called dihydrotestosterone—more commonly referred to as DHT—is the main blighter in causing hair loss.
DHT is a substance in the body that can shrink the hair follicle until it no longer produces visible hair. Scientists believe DHT and family history are key factors in hair loss, and while reducing the number of family members you have won’t help (as well a being very, very illegal), reducing your DHT can.
Throughout this section, you will learn more about male pattern hair loss, its causes, and stages, and what you can do about it.
